when we went to bed last night, we discovered Pepper had a huge lump under her right jawbone, and spreading across under her chin. We were, of course, terrified, although common sense told us that it wasn’t likely to be a tumour given that it had come up during the course of the day. Didn’t stop us fretting ourselves to death, mind you, and discussing calling the emergency vet at 11 p.m.!
anyway, rushed her along to the surgery this morning, and it’s an abscess, it seems. She’s had a painkilling shot, and I have some antibiotics in case they’re needed. [two days later] We conveyed her back to the vet this morning to get it lanced, and it was apparently the vilest smelling abscess the vet has ever had to deal with – bit of a result for Pepper, really 🙂 she seems much happier now, and we have to keep bathing it (eek) and dose her with antibiotics for a week, which will be a joy.
